So yeah, here comes the Humma song!
When first I heard this track, I wondered how I would implement my moves on the beats of it just if I had to! It was a candid decision, a totally random one, to come upon a conclusion that I want to dance on this beautiful old school song remixed in the movie “Ok Jaanu”.
I had guys around me always to support all of my sudden plans and thus, one of them danced with me on this song because of which an amazing video was composed. Thanks also to my dad – Yogesh Kapadia (Jini Video) who made this video possible.
Our biggest challenge was what to show in this performance along with our flawless pattern of steps, but as we started the practice, we also came upon a story to mix it with the lyrics.
The story of this video goes like this :-
A loner is sitting at a lounge, watching a video featuring me, and while getting crazy by my moves, he suddenly gets a glimpse of me, playing the snooker in front of him. And as fond as he is of dancing, he starts dreaming about dancing with me on the Humma song. During the song he imagines a heated up scene showing different dance forms which gives him a feeling of contentment to feel enough happiness for the time being. As the song heads towards it’s end, a music with ‘desi tadka’ pops up, which according to me is the best part of the song.
And with that his dream crashes down, and what he sees after opening his eyes turns his lips in an upside down curve and his emotions takes him into deep sadness. He sees that I already have someone in my life when my lad enters the room, talks to me joyously, and leads me through the door to our own little world.
It took me just 2 days to choreograph and shoot this song and there weren’t many takes captured. Even though it was mostly spontaneous, and an outcome of my inner animal, the result came up to be a Big Bang. We had a lot of fun during practice sessions, and experiences which we had never got before. Because in the end, it’s always about learning new things everyday, even if you are a master of a certain profession.
